Mlle Ellie our Mascot.
Ellie is a small standard girl at 32 lbs. Ellie is 15 years old and came to Maine from the West coast with ulcerated external ulcers and poor muscle tone a year and a half ago in the middle of winter.
She was depressed and kept to her bed and herself. We had the warts and ulcers treated and got her on an exercise regimen appropriate for her age and she perked right up exploring Maine trails on walks.
A year and a half later she is still with us, wants to go everywhere we and the rest of the poodles go AT HER OWN PACE thank you. |
| She has lovely manners (hates mud puddles for example - icky icky). She is only 32lbs but a darling little girl so she has become the official mascot for Maine Poodle Rescue. She lives with Barbara, our President, who will not part with her ever. |

A Happy Tail!
Gabby and her kitties..
Gabby was rescued back in November, since then Gabby has become a real love bug and loves to snuggle up on the couch. Recently Gabby found two kittens that were feral and became their adopted mom.
The kittens like to be outside much of the time, however at night, Gabby will not come inside and go to bed until they do! She will wait by the door for them, and then when they do... off to bed they all go.
Too cute! |

Standard Poodles - Breed Information
|
|
From: Wikipedia:
A poodle is a breed of dog. They are very smart, and are one of the most popular kinds of dogs. Many people own them or show them. Poodles were once used as hunting and sporting dogs, but now they are mostly pets. Poodles do not shed as much fur as some dogs, so they are good pets for people who are allergic to dogs.
Colors: Poodles are also popular because they come in many different colors and sizes. They are most often white or black; but can be orange, called "apricot"; dark gray, called "blue"; and other colors. There are also some rare colors, such as chocolate brown, and brindle. |

|
Sizes: Poodles are bred in many different sizes. The three main sizes from largest to smallest are Standard, Miniature, and Toy. There are also other sizes, like the very small Teacup, that are not official. This means that these other sizes cannot be part of professional dog shows. |
